Dunshaughlin chalked up two early scores to lead 0—2 to 0—0 after six minutes. Simonstown took control and had a very productive fifteen-minute spell with Shane McEnery tapping over followed by a brace from Jimmy Heaney. Three Padraig McKeever points (1f) and a point apiece from Brian Conlon and Luke Caffrey left Simonstown leading 0—8 to 0—2 after twenty-one minutes. Dunshaughlin responded with three points (1f). A late Shane McEnery free and a mark converted by Luke Caffrey sent Simons into the dressing room at the break leading by 0—10 to 0—5.
Shane Barry opened the visitors second half account followed by a brace from Luke Caffrey and a Padraig McKeever free to put them 0—14 to 0—6 in front at the of third quarter. Shane Barry fisted over and further points from subs Ben Hoey 2fs Andrew Kearney and Aaron Farrelly completed the Simonstown tally. Dunshaughlin never gave up and rallied in last ten minutes with a few score. Final score Simons 0—19 Dunshaughlin 0—11.
A very satisfactory league campaign where we finished fourth in the table. With a little bit of luck, we could have reached the final. Great credit to manager Gordon Ward and his team of Eanna Donoghue, Joe Lyons, Paul Meade, Terry Shields, Kevin Duffy, Tommy Caffrey and Jim McCabe for looking after this team. Quite a number of improving young players were introduced to senior team football.
