Luke Caffrey was in sparkling form on Thursday evening in Simonstown as he scored six (6) first half points (off left and right foot) against Kilmainhamwood to send the home team into dressing at half time leading 0—9 to 0—4. Shane McEnery with a brace and Tadgh Hanrahan from long range were also on the mark.
David Kavanagh pointed to open Simstowns second half account. Tadgh Hanrahan with long raking clearance from half back line area found the inrushing Peter Duffy bearing down on goal and he finished to the net to put Simonstown 1—10 to 0—7 in front with six second half minutes gone. Kilmainhamwood had a purple patch and recorded 1—3 without reply to leave the score 1—10 to 1—10 at the end of third quarter. Up stepped Luke Caffrey with two points in succession, David Kavanagh,Shane McEnery and Kyle McEvoy one each to put Sims four in front after twenty minutes. Eoghan Foley on as a sub and with his first possession rifled the ball over the goalkeepers head to the roof of the Kilmainham wood net . Aaron Farrelly completed the Simons scoring when he finish to the net after some good forward play. A young Simonstown team ran out deserving winners 3—15 to 1—12.
