  Brian McGrath slotted over a point in the very first minute. Ashbourne replied with two points to lead 2—1 for the only time in the game after five minutes. Thereafter the Navan men took control with the talented sharpshooter Aaron Farrelly three (3), McGrath, David McKeever, Eoghan Gough, Padraig McKeever, all one each from play to lead by 0—8 to 0—3 with 28 mins on the clock. Ashbourne recovered to knock over two in prolonged injury time to leave Simonstown leading at the break 0—8 to 0—5.

          Shane McEnery replaced the injured Sean Conlon at halftime and he converted free in 34th minute. The decisive score arrived a minute later as Padraig  McKeever weaved his way through the home defense and blasted past goalkeeper Andrew Colgan to put Simonstown 1—9 to 0—5 ahead.  Further points from Eoghan Gough, a Shane McEnery free Padraig McKeever, and Aaron Farrelly completed the Simonstown tally. Ashbourne responded with three late points as Simonstown ran out deserved winners 1—13 to 0—9. A good all-around team display with defense keeps Ashbourne scoreless for 24 second-half minutes.  Next up is a clash with League leaders Ratoath in Simonstown on Tuesday evening.
