Navan O'Mahonys.......5-10
Simonstown.................0-19
Simonstown kept the umpires busier on the night but the concession of goals was costly as they lost this Premier Div 2 Round Three clash to neighbours Navan O'Mahonys in Simonstown.
The home side fielded a strong team featuring some of those players who have helped the senior team to the Feis Cup final and two of those players, Andrew Kearney and Ben Hoey, scored 14 of the 19 points between them.
But the goals at the other end hurt with O'Mahonys getting two in the opening quarter to lead by 2-3 to 0-7 at the first quarter break.
Simonstown, with Sean Conlon and Shane Barry (pictured) providing an experienced midfield pairing, kept in touch throughout and were one point down at the break, 2-4 to 0-9.
Having won their opening two games convincingly it looked like Simonstown might kick on with Kearney and Hoey leading the charge.
At one stage early in the second half they lead by 0-11 to 2-4 and were level twice after that but the concession of soft goals continued and by the second water break O'Mahonys were back in front, 3-9 to 0-16. Two further goals in the last quarter put them out of reach.
