Simonstown 2—13   Seneschalstown 2—13

With seven minutes left in the second half and seven points down (Sens 2—11 Simonstown 0—10) Simonstown were staring their first defeat in nine games ( between League and Championship) but like the cat with nine lives they pulled off a dramatic and  remarkable recovery to draw with Seneschalstown.

Simonstown started brightly playing with the  wind  into O Mahonys end with Padraig McKeever finding the target ( 4) four points (1f). A Sean Tobin free and Andrew Kearney from play put Simons 0—6 to 0—1 after eleven minutes play.  Briain Conlon and Shane Barry were controlling midfield for the Navan men.  Senchalstown came more into game working hard winning breaks and ran at the opposing defence which drew frees (5)that  were converted.  McKeever and Kearney pointed for Simons leaving the score 0—8 to 0—6 after twenty nine minutes.  Cathal Finnegan received a splendid pass inside the Simons defence and gave Robbie Burlingham no chance with a pile driver to the net in third minute of first half injury time to put Seneschalstown in front 1—6 to 0—8 at the break.

The Beauparc men were on the mark with a point in first minute of the third quarter. McKeever converted a free before Alan Mulvanny  rattled the Simonstown net and added a point immediately afterwards to make it Senestwn 2—8 Simons 0—9 with ten second half minutes gone.  Seneschalstown were dominating all over field added three more points while McKeever stroked over a free to leave seven points between the teams with twenty-three second half minutes on the clock Senes 2—11 Simons 0—10. The Simonstown revival started with sub-Luke Caffrey notching a point and he then played a one two with Shane Barry and finished to the net with scoreboard now reading Senes 2—11 Sims 1—11 with twenty-seven minutes gone. Senestwn replied with long range point from play to put four between the teams. Another sub Aaron Farrelly played one two with Shane Barry who finished to net from an acute angle while under severe pressure on the stroke of normal time.  Senes 2—12 Sim 2—11.  Ben Hoey also on as a sub slotted over the leveller from range to leave 2—12 each. The Beauparc men broke down the field and got a point to put them one up. Simonstown charged up field from kick out where Tobin was fouled 35 metres out and free awarded . Padraig McKeever under serious pressure and ice cool slotted over in thirty seventh minute 2—13 each and keep our nine-match unbeaten run going.  He should be "hosting" the Late Late show after his dramatic  (1—1) in injury time to win against Dunboyne and last score to draw match against Seneschalstown.    A very satisfactory campaign and well done to manager Gordon Ward, selectors Eanna Donoghue, Joe Lyons and Terry Shields.

We have drawn neighbours Wolfe Tones in the quarter final.
