Meath GAA clubs have been asked to convey to their membership the increasing gravity of Covid-19 transmission in the county, particularly in the Navan area.
According to figures, the 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 in Navan is THREE times higher than the national average, making it one of the most infected areas in the country outside Dublin.
Over 50 per cent of all Covid-19 cases in the north east region (Meath, Louth, Cavan, Monaghan) have been in Meath in the past week, the Council advises.
In partnership with the HSE and An Garda Síochána, Meath County Council has launched an Easter Awareness campaign and this week will be airing public messages on local radio and social media, asking people in the area to moderate their activity and continue to observe public health guidelines in a renewed effort to slow the spread of the virus around them.
The authorities in this area, while acknowledging the fatigue that is setting in with continued restrictions, are asking for extra effort over the next few weeks to suppress the virus in this community.
