Luke Caffrey with 1—3 (1f) and David McKeever had Simonstown 1—4 to 0—0 after ten minutes play in Seneschalstown on Saturday afternoon. One each from Mark Gardiner and jack Melia made it 1—6 to 0—0 at end of first quarter. The Tones got the scoreboard ticking with a free and as the rain poured down and conditions playing their part, Tones rattled the Simonstown twice net in three minutes. They tagged on their only point from play two minutes later to leave a point between the teams 1—6 to 2—2. Simonstown got reorganised and steadied the ship with two frees from Caffrey and Jack Melia to lead at half time by 1—8 to 2—2.
