Referee awarded the Yellow Furze men a penalty which seemed a harsh decision and Dylan Keating duly converted to put Seneschalstown in front 1—1 to 0—2 with eight minutes played. Simonstown responded immeaditely when Eoghan Gough put Sean Tobin through --his fine shot was cleared off the line but Aaron Farrelly lurking on the edge of square hammered the rebound to the roof of the net. Sean Tobins injury flared up and he was replaced by Shane Barry. Ben Hoey from distance and an Aaron Farrelly palmed effort that just went over the bar to put the Sky blues two up. Keating split the posts and Tadgh Hanrahan with a monster from out near the side line completed the first half scoring. Simons 1—6 Senchs 1—4.
Simonstown made a blistering start to second half when Eoghan Gough fielded a high ball- called a mark then instantly sent a sublime kicked pass into the path of the running on goal Aaron Farrelly who laid it off to the better positioned Padraig McKeever and he belted to the net. A piece of play that was a privilege to see—quick thinking follow by quick action. McKeever tapped over a free a minute later to see scoreboard reading Sims 2—7 Senchs 1—4 with three second half minutes played. Aaron Farelly from a mark, Ben Hoey and Hanrahan form play put Simons 2—10 to 1—4 up with eight minutes to play. The Yellow Furze men tagged two (1F) and Farrelly fisted over the last score.
A great team performance where the backs marking was tight and were first to the ball—they also ventured forward. The midfield men worked hard going back to defend and forward to help in attack. The forwards combined well as unit and took their scores well---four wides for whole game--they also helped at midfield and defence when needed.
