Our U15 Boys are Meath U15 Division 3 League champions after a great display of attacking football on a lovely afternoon for football in Pairc Tailteann last Saturday.
Simonstown started the brighter & were 0-5 points to 0-1 ahead after less than 10 minutes on the clock but Dunderry weren’t going to lie down & scored 2-1 without reply to go 3 ahead after 16 minutes.
However from the 17th minute of the first half Simonstown outscored their opponents by 2-7 to 0-1 in a scintillating display to go in at the half time break with a deserved 9 point lead.
The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half was a cagey affair with both teams missing good scoring opportunities but Simonstown eventually found their rhythm again & added a further 2-5 to their first half tally to finish convincing winners.
On a day when there were a number of outstanding individual performances, it was really the overall team performance & ethic that came to the fore.
The lovely new Cup was presented to Simonstown Captain Leon Butler by fellow Simonstown man & long time U15 sponsor Pat O’Reilly.
On what was a fantastic afternoon for our U15 Squad in Pairc Tailteann last Saturday, the Players & Management would like to dedicate the win to our friend & coach Sean Farrelly who we tragically lost last December but who coached the majority of these young players since they were 5 or 6 years old. We know Sean would have been immensely proud looking down on the lads last Saturday & no doubt encouraging them until the final whistle was blown.
