Ruairi Brady chalked the the first score of the game for Simonstown at the ten minute mark when he fired to the visitors net on a damp cold Thursday evening in June. Solid defending by both teams had limited scoring chances up to then in this Div 8 Round 10 match. Further points from Cillian Farrell,Kyle McEvoy and Anthony McDonagh put Simons in front 1—3 to 0—2 after twenty minutes. Seamus Kenny converted a free and Alex Carry slotted over while O Mahonys replied with two points to leave Simonstown leading at the break 1—5 to 0—4.
O Mahonys raced out the traps atthe start of second half and scored 1—2 in first 3minutes to lead 1—6 to 1—5 after thirty three minutes. The Brews Hill outfit rattled the net again at end of third quarter while Simons failed to raise a flag in this period. Entering the last quarter O Mahs led 2—7 to 1—5.Eventually Cillian Farrell pointed for the home team but was quickly replied to by another O Mahs goal from corner forward Paul Cunningham who scored all three of the visitors goals. O Mahs now led 3—8 to 1—6. Simonstown never gave up and were rewarded when Alex Carry pointed and rattled the visitors net with the last kick of the game.Final Score; Simons 2—7 O Mahs 3—9.
