Simonstown got off to a flying start in Skryne on Tuesday night and led by 1—6 to 0—1 after seventeen minutes. Simons full back Rory O Connor went off injured after three minutes. Luke Caffrey with 1-1(1F),the goal coming after a fine crisp passing movement through Eoghan Gough and Aaron Farrelly. Farrelly had converted two frees along points from play by Ruairi Brady,David McKeever and Tadgh Hanrahan. Skryne had a period of dominance and added four points. Eoghan Gough then slotted over and went off injured limiting the attacking options.A Caffrey point from play and a Farrelly free completed the first half scoring. Brian Neary pick up an injury and was replaced by young Keelan McKenna who was making his debut at adult level. Simonstown 1—9 Skryne 0—6.
Luke Caffrey with a point after two minutes and Aaron Farrelly with a fine individual goal resulting from a hop ball after six minutes put Simonstown 2—10 to 0—6 in front. Skryne upped the tempo and with some frees and a goal were just three in arrears at the forty five minute mark Simons 2—10 Skryne 1—10. Simonstown visibly tired, as a number of players had competed in the game in Ballivor the night before. Tadgh Hanrahan sent over along range point while Skryne with three points (2fs) levelled the score with time up. Simonstown were unlucky with injuries and just clung on for a draw. Simons 2—11 Skyrne 1—14.
