Simonstown and Oldcastle ladies teams served up an entertaining contest on Friday night last in Simonstown. Ailbhe McHugh got the Simonstown girls first point of the game after 4 minutes, Oldcastle responded immediately with their first of the night. Lauryn Grier was causing the Oldcastle rearguard a few problems with her runs and she was rewarded with Simonstowns 2nd point. Simonstown then hit the woodwork twice in what was a closely contested first half. Chloe Caffrey and Mia Brady concluded the scoring in the first half Simonstown 0-4 Oldcastle 0-4.

The decisive score of the game came 2 minutes after the break when a great delivery by Zoe Coyne set Lauryn Grier free only to see her goal bound effort parried out to the oncoming Kelly Harris who finished to the back of the net. A point from Laura McEnery kept the lead at 3 points with 37 minutes played. Alex O Connor made a vital save to maintain the advantage however Simonstown would then go another 13 minutes without a score until Mia Brady put Simonstown 1 point ahead after Oldcastle had regained parity. An injury to an Oldcastle player paused the game for 10 minutes however an excellent defensive team effort lead by Emma Cassidy, Orla Conlon, Niamh Lister and the excellent Shauna Fox kept the Oldcastle attack at bay. A free from Ailbhe and a point from play from Chloe Caffrey completed a good all round team performance and deserved win, to finish out their division 1 campaign.
