SPRING LEAGUE U13 Division i
The Simonstown U12 boys panel played their third game in the U13 Division i Spring League yesterday evening in Simonstown in perfect conditions and made it two wins from three after this encounter. Ryan Bennett was first off the mark with the scoring for the home team when he goaled after good link play by Luke Joyce and centre forward Fionn Brereton followed this up with two well struck points. Conor Carley was next to over when he pointed on the run while a goal and a point from a free from midfielder Ronan Cromwell further extended the lead. Mark Nolan and Fionn Brereton added further scores.

While the forwards and midfield were keeping the scores ticking over up front the defense were also very much on top of their game. Oisín Farrelly was cleaning up at centre back and Niall Sweeney and Conor Keoghan were both mopping up any danger either side of him. Meanwhile on the full back line Shea Gillen and Max Flanagan were ever alert to potential danger.

There was certainly a lot more energy and purpose to the performance from the lads than had been the case the week previously when they faced off in a challenge against Kingscourt. From the get go all were fully focused.

Dunboyne had been slow to grow into proceedings but they finished the first half with two scores and began the second with two more- a goal and a point. However, Simonstown's soon demonstrated their scoring prowess once more with Ryan Bennett grabbing another goal and a point for himself. From there the gap continued to open between the sides. Nathan Gavin and Niall Sweeney were further contributors.

With unlimited substitutions in this league Simonstown made full use of their strong bench and it was a good sign of the panel that all those introduced made an impact and contributed to what was a very good overall performance. Next up for the lads will be Dunderry away.

Thanks to Michelle Cummins for taking some fantastic action shots from our game.
