After a few cancellations due to weather conditions this fixture originally scheduled for Dunderry was transferred to Simonstown on Thursday night.....due to Dunderry pitch being unplayable.
Simonstowns third team were slow out of the blocks as a youthfull Dunderry raced into 1--3 to 0--0 lead after eleven minutes. The Navan men got to grips with their opponents and points form Ruairi Brady Cormac McHugh and two from the stalwart Joe Lyons left the scoreboard reading at the break Dunderry 1—4 Simons 0—4.
At the start of second half Joe Lyons again clipped over two points while Dunderry replied with a close in free leave it Dunderry 1—5 Simons 0—6 with ten second half minutes on the clock. A younger faster Dundeery then got the upper hand and tapped over six points (1f) while Ruairi Brady slotted over two frees for Simons so that after twenty minutes Dunderry led 1—11 to 0—8. As Simons tired the Dunderry men tapped over six more scores (2f) while a good inter passing forward play led to Ruairi Brady firing to net for the Gaels. Ronan Duffy brought off two tremendous saves durng the second half. Final score;; Simonstown 1—8 Dunderry 1—17.
A warm welcome to Sean Heavey who transferred to Simons from Longwood earlier in the year and played his first match . What wonderfull dedication and a great example to younger players Simonstown have in Seamus Kenny ,Charlie McNulty,Joe Lyons who still pull on the jersey give their all for the Club. They help and encourage young players to blend into the teams and adapt to the rigours of adult football.
